Teaching Philosophy

The most important thing for me about teaching is understanding that education and teachers contribute to the growth, knowledge and skills of students, who in the future will contribute to society.

I believe in embracing each student’s culture and identity. Therefore, I will promote diversity in the classroom with diverse literature, lessons plans and visuals. I will also understand and accept their background, race, gender, abilities, religion and ethnicity.

Student’s success requires the collaboration of teachers and parents. Therefore, I will communicate with parents on a regular basis and invite them to participate in our classroom and projects.

I believe that students contribute to their education as much as their teacher does. Therefore, I will create an environment where students bring ideas and suggestions to the material being learned and the classroom management.

Communication between classmates contributes to the success of learning. Therefore, I will incorporate student-centered instruction that encourages collaboration, independent learning, creativity and teamwork.

I believe teaching with technology motivates active participation of students. Therefore, I will incorporate technology in my lesson plans and activities to engage students.

My classroom will be a place where students can feel safe, welcomed and can express themselves. Therefore, I will continue to train myself in safety and provide an environment where students can ask questions, voice their concerns and share their emotions.

I believe that students understand materials when they are related to them. Therefore, I will include Place-Based learning to empower students to learn about their community and environment through activates and their own experiences
